Amanda believes the best way to learn is to do. It can be daunting for non law students to study law and is imperative to take the theory and apply it in practical manageable learning exercises. Amanda believes students must be encouraged to develop confidence in their communication skills. While the process of reading about legal principles and precedents, the real learning comes through each student's own efforts at recognizing relevant law and presenting arguments as to how the law is applied. Lectures are used to fully explain the theory and to encourage interactive learning. Tutorials are for developing the confidence in recognising and analysing legal issues. and assessment work must build on the application of the theory within a similar paradigm with the emphasis on graduate attributes such as developing critical thinking skills.
