Vien Chu is a lecturer at CSU in the School of Accountancy and Finance, teaching in the Master of Professional Accounting.
Prior to joining academia, Vien worked for eight years as an accounting manager, a financial and general manager for international private sector companies in Vietnam. Vien completed two research studies: Masters in 2010 and PhD in 2015. While the Masters study examined NGOs' approaches to sustainable poverty alleviation through long-term effective programs in Vietnam, the PhD study investigated NGO accountability practices in Bangladesh and Indonesia. The work from the two studies has been published in journals, a book chapter, and conference papers. Vien's research interests include third sector accountability, reporting and disclosure, social enterprises and micro-enterprise development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Internal control systems and cloud computing.
Vien has been teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, and in various accounting units including Management Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Accounting Systems and Processes, Company Accounting, Audit.
Vien is also an Associate Fellow of The Higher Education Academy, in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education
