My research focus is on top-down control in a variety of areas including motor behaviour, problem solving in virtual environments, and addiction. I have a particular interest in the neural underpinnings of automaticity and the related phenomena of intention, attention, and awareness. I have proposed a re-conceptualisation of the notion of automaticity.
I also have a strong interest in the cognitive science of normal aging, and the light that this sheds on both abnormal aging and disease processes.
