Dr Warwick Baines

Prior to a career in academia Warwick was employed for many years by global professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), working mostly on clients in the technology, information or entertainment industries. He finished his time with PwC as an audit manager and joined CSU in July 2004 after a brief time spent teaching social sciences in secondary schools. His teaching focus since then has been on has been on introductory accounting, financial accounting and auditing subjects. Warwick has previously served as the Faculty's Sub Dean Learning and Teaching and recently submitted his PhD on the tensions between autonomy and accountability in Australian public secondary schools for examination. He is an active committee member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (Western NSW) and is the treasurer for a number of community groups.

  • Joint recipient with Kay Plummer of a $2,000 Faculty of Business Scholarship in Teaching Fund grant to develop pod casts for first year accounting students and to research their effectiveness

2007

  • Joint recipient (with Ken Crofts, Carole Hunter and Lyn Flynn) of a $2,000 Faculty of Business Scholarship in Teaching Fund grant to develop on-screen action capture tutorials and other technologies and to research their effectiveness
  • Joint recipient with Kay Plummer of a $3,000 Faculty of Business seed grant for research into the learning modalities of undergraduate students
