A 32 year police career in four of the largest UK Forces and at the Home Office. Extensive experience in territorial and specialist operational policing with an emphasis on the leadership of large scale public events, critical incidents, public order, roads policing and firearms operations.

Meredydd was the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police for 7 years following his role as Gold Commander of the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002.  National responsibilities included the 2005 G8 Conference, the 2010 UK Papal Visit and the 2012 Olympic Games Planning Team.

Meredydd was awarded the CBE in January 2012 for services to UK and international policing.

Meredydd now lives in Dubai, and works as an international consultant in strategic policing issues and is involved in developing new technologies for policing and security with a number of companies.

Teaching

Meredydd is a member of the team delivering the Mid-Career Training Programme at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad, India and is a lecturer on Strategic Roads Policing, Enforcement and Road Safety.
