Emmett Berry is a Lecturer in Accounting at Charles Sturt University, based on the Bathurst Campus. Emmett has been teaching at CSU since 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Master of Commerce (Finance), and a Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Emmett is currently enrolled in the Professional Doctorate in Business Administration (Research) at the University of Canberra.

With extensive experience in both academia and the accounting profession, including several years working in public practice, Emmett is passionate about inspiring students to succeed and ensuring they graduate as competent and employable professionals. He has played a key role in integrating workplace learning into CSU’s accounting curriculum and has facilitated over 500 student work placements. He has also contributed to CSU’s international programs through teaching and academic coordination at partner universities in China.

Teaching

Emmett has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in accounting and business. His teaching has primarily focused on introductory accounting, financial accounting and reporting, and professional practice through workplace learning. He has also taught various business and finance subjects, demonstrating versatility across different areas of the curriculum.

He is committed to creating engaging learning environments that connect theory with practice, emphasising authentic assessment and industry engagement. Emmett has developed new subjects, integrated industry guest speakers, and created online learning resources including video content featuring industry perspectives to enhance student employability and engagement.

Alongside his teaching in Australia, Emmett has contributed to CSU’s international programs at partner universities in China, supporting subject design, coordinating academic activities, and ensuring successful delivery of courses in diverse cultural contexts.
