Yianni Athanasopoulos lectures in the fields of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations on behalf of the School of Management and Marketing for our Online Students. Yianni has worked in the corporate sector for over 25 years and has held roles, such as Workplace Trainer and Assessor for The Shell Company of Australia, Regional Manager for Coles Group, Woolworths Limited and Sleepmaker. Yianni is also fluent in the Greek language. Yianni's area of HR specialisation focuses on talent acquisition, training/assessor, performance management well as professional development. Yianni holds a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education from The University of Technology, Sydney as well as a Masters of Commerce, Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations from Western Sydney University. Yianni is undertaking his Doctoral studies exploring the influences and factors to the declining use of enterprise bargaining agreements in the Australian Retail Industry. In 2017, Yianni wrote a new undergraduate subject for the School of Management and Marketing titled "HRM201 Workplace Relations in Australia". Yianni's teaching method focuses highly on learner to learner and learner to teacher engagement, reflection, discussion, whilst utilising Yianni's and the student's wealth of real life scenarios to validate theoretical and the practical applications for the topics under discussion. In 2018-2020, Yianni was a member of the Faculty Courses Committee representing the School of Management and Marketing. In 2021, Yianni is the Discipline Lead for Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. Overseeing the Quality Assurance of subject outlines, and exams.
