Dr Alain Neher is an Associate Professor in the School of Business at Charles Sturt University. Before joining academia, he worked for more than 25 years in industry, including senior management and leadership roles in private, public, and not-for-profit organisations and armed forces logistics, focusing on support services.

He holds a Doctoral degree from Charles Sturt University, two Master’s degrees from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Switzerland) and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (Switzerland).

A/Prof Neher’s research interests include general management, business ethics, organisational culture and values, performance management, workforce well-being, and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance). He has published in various peer-reviewed, international high-quality journals.

He is passionate about understanding the world of work and the potential for employees to develop professionally within their organisations and loves to share his expertise and knowledge with students across a variety of modes. A/Prof Neher holds a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Teaching

At Charles Sturt, Associate Professor Neher has been Subject Convener and Coordinator for:

  • MGT100 – Organisations and Management
  • MGT210 – Organisational Behaviour
  • MGT230 – Ethics, Sustainability and Culture
  • INR503 – Industrial Relations

He also supervises Higher Degree Research and Honours students.

As a Course Director, he designed, reviewed and revised undergraduate and postgraduate courses/programs and subjects.

Research Interests

Associate Professor Neher’s research interests include general management, business ethics, organisational culture and values, performance management, workforce well-being, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
