PhD, MSc, BSc

Associate Head / Senior Lecturer in Engineering
Bathurst
Engineering Building 1305 Room 201 Bathurst

Dr Nariman Saeed joined Charles Sturt University in July 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (1997) and a Master of Engineering (1999) in Civil Engineering, and began his professional career in 2000 as a structural and geotechnical engineer, working for a decade across analysis, design, and project delivery roles. Supported by an industry-funded scholarship, he undertook doctoral study at the University of Queensland and completed a PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering in 2015.

In his teaching portfolio, Dr Saeed contributes to curriculum design and delivery across structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction materials, WIL-oriented portfolio and capstone subjects. His pedagogy is grounded in inquiry-led and project-based learning, emphasising authentic engineering problem-solving, evidence-based decision-making, and progressive development of professional competencies.

Dr Saeed’s research investigates the mechanical, microstructural, and durability behaviour of construction materials produced from high-volume industrial by-products. His work focuses on the valorisation of mine tailings, waste glass, and end-of-life tyre rubber, with attention to hydration mechanisms, phase evolution, and performance under service exposure conditions. He has led or co-led a range of applied projects, supervised higher-degree research candidates, and established the Waste to Worth initiative to advance circular-economy material solutions for regional Australia.
