Dr Miao Li's passion for engineering started as a little girl, following her dad as he built things as small as tables and chairs, and as big as residential buildings and ships. From there, her passion for engineering grew. Her tertiary and postgraduate education have also cultivated her passion in engineering to a more profound level. Dr Li is keen to demonstrate to students that the essence of engineering lies in creativity and innovative thinking.
Dr Li joins Charles Sturt University after studying undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in geotechnical engineering in China and completing a PhD in coastal structural engineering through Griffith University in Australia, as well as conducting research, sessional teaching and thesis supervision.
Dr Li is excited about the unique nature of Charles Sturt University Engineering, combining problem-focused topic teaching and four years of industry placement, which will enable students to get involved in engineering practice before they graduate. She is looking forward to giving back to the engineering community through teaching at Charles Sturt University.
