Dr. Mohammad Al-Rawi is a mechanical engineer with over 17 years of research and teaching experience. He completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Technology, Baghdad, and earned his PhD at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand.

Dr. Al-Rawi is an expert in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element (FE) modelling. He applies these techniques to develop non-invasive methods for detecting cardiovascular diseases and to analyze airflow and thermal comfort in residential housing.

His research also extends to sports engineering applications, including helmet design and fitness education analysis.

Dr. Al-Rawi served as Vice President of the Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AAEE) and was a member of the AAEE executive from 2022 to 2024. He has contributed to engineering education projects on topics such as constructive alignment in final-year projects, intensive course delivery, and project-based learning.
