James is a clinical psychologist, board-approved supervisor, and senior lecturer at Charles Sturt University (Bathurst). He has been a practicing psychologist for approximately 15 years and a full-time academic for 8 years. James completed his clinical training with Western Sydney University in 2008, before moving into a PhD that explored methods of assessment for Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
As a clinician, James has predominantly operated in youth space, working at Headspace (Campbelltown) from 2013 – 2022. He particularly enjoys working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds that might otherwise be unable to access allied health services.
As an academic, James has taught extensively across undergraduate and postgraduate psychology, both via online and face-to-face formats. He has also held several governance positions, including Academic Course Advisor Post-Graduate Psychology (Western Sydney University) and Program Coordinator Professional Psychology (the Australia College of Applied Professions). James currently teaches into the post-graduate programs at CSU and is a research-active member of the School of Psychology.
