MIRA, MICLA, Grad Dip, Grad Cert Chris joined the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies in 2021. He is the Academic Course Director, and also a Senior Lecturer and Principal Consultant with the CCES specializing in customs reform and modernization projects (including strengthening organisational capacity and compliance, management profiles, risk management, training needs analysis, streamlining of procedures, standard operating procedures and rehabilitation of border posts/ workflow). Initially an Officer of Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise, United Kingdom (UK), Chris’s professional career spans over 39 years in customs and border management working on reform projects in Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Jordan, Lithuania, Pakistan, Somalia and Ukraine. Chris has extensive experience in developing training curriculum, performing training needs analysis; reviewing, revising and developing training materials and plans, and delivering courses/ seminars (including anti-smuggling, examination and search techniques, import/ export awareness, post clearance audit, risk assessment/ management, train the trainer, and team leader/ management).
