Tyson is a Lecturer in Criminal Justice at Charles Sturt University, and an adjunct Lecturer in the School of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales. He was awarded his PhD in Criminology from Griffith University, where he also completed his undergraduate degree in Criminology and Psychology. Tyson’s research examines the development of criminal and antisocial behaviour across the life-course, with a focus on the risk factors and adverse health outcomes associated with young people’s involvement in, or experiences of, crime and delinquency.

  • Examining longitudinal patterns of adolescent engagement in cyber-deviance
  • Exploring the overlap in the social determinants of health and crime
  • Evaluating the efficacy of existing services and programs for those involved in crime
