MA Criminology, MA Policing, Intelligence & Counter Terrorism Sam is a current Detective Sergeant within the NSW Police Force with over 18 years of service. Most of Sam’s policing experience has been in operational environments, and primarily in the field of criminal investigation both with a NSW focus and in joint investigative environments with Commonwealth partner agencies. He has worked in both local and major crime environments, including the Homicide Squad and Terrorism Investigations Squad. Sam has led or been directly involved in complex and high-level criminal investigations, with interests in violent and/or serial crime, politically motivated crime and emerging crime types/trends. Sam holds or has held supervisory positions within criminal investigation units and is currently the Investigations Manager within a large regional Police District, responsible for the overall conduct and administration of criminal investigations. He also holds positions as direct supervisor of several key portfolios within the District including the Child Protection Register, rural crime investigation and coronial investigations. Throughout his career Sam has maintained an ongoing academic interest obtaining Masters degrees in Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism (PICT) from Macquarie University in 2014, and Criminology from Sydney University in 2018. Sam is a regular lecturer at Charles Sturt University in the Centre for Law and Justice and the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security. Units taught include theoretical and applied criminology, criminal law and policing/security studies. Within the NSW Police Force Sam regularly delivers and advises on course content for formal investigation training internally to police officers.Adjunct Staff
