Accounting, Business and Information Technology

Keep up to date with COVID-19 information

Bachelor of Accounting students will have an opportunity at the end of the second year to complete a 105-hour placement within a relevant organisation.

It is expected that students will progressively develop professional knowledge and an understanding of professional practice; employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving; and reflective practice skills enabling them to evaluate their own work practices while linking the theory of the classroom to practice in the workplace.

Business students will have the opportunity to complete placement with a relevant organisation:

  • Undergraduate: 35-hours in year two and 70-hours in year three. Students have an additional opportunity to undertake an elective workplace learning subject for a further 105-hours.
  • Postgraduate: 210 hours

It is expected that students will progressively develop professional knowledge and an understanding of professional practice; employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving; and reflective practice skills enabling them to evaluate their own work practices while linking the theory of the classroom to practice in the workplace.

Information Technology students will have an opportunity at the end of the third year to complete placement within a relevant organisation:

  • Undergraduate: 105-hours
  • Postgraduate:  140-hours

It is expected that students will progressively develop professional knowledge and an understanding of professional practice; employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving; and reflective practice skills enabling them to evaluate their own work practices while linking the theory of the classroom to practice in the workplace.

Although individual organisations may have varying capacities to assist students in achieving the subject aims, most organisations can provide a setting where students can appreciate the workplace and attempt to give context to their university studies through that workplace.
